Covid-19 Union Member Relief

The San Diego and Imperial Counties Labor Council is asking for help for union members and their families affected by the Coronavirus outbreak.

See the letter below from Keith Maddox, Labor Council Executive Secretary-Treasurer:

Sisters and Brothers:

As workers, we know that people that have the least, give the most.

We see it every day, when janitors show up after working all night to work security at a protest march.

We see it when hotel workers work a full housekeeping shift and then rally for TSA employees during a government shutdown.

As workers we walk in each other’s shoes.

We understand how easy it is to lose a job – and how hard it is to survive when you don’t have one.

As a labor movement, we are facing this health and economic crisis head on. We are mobilized – and working hard to provide immediate help to those who need it most.

We have seen hours cut, paychecks lost, and layoffs start in the tourism sector. Our IATSE, UNITE-HERE, SEIU-USWW and Teamsters brothers and sisters have been hit first – and hit hard. And we know that this is only the beginning.

We need your help to prepare for what is to come.

We ask that you please give $5, $20, $100 or whatever you can to our Union Member Relief Program.

100% of the funds will go to union members to help keep food on the table for their families.

Will you give what you can today?

Thank you.

In Solidarity,

Keith Maddox
